vintage sexism slipping by on charm

Is it bad that I find this ad more endearing than offensive? These poor ladies and their offensive odor… God love ’em.

This week’s Reader Wednesday post is this one by Jennifer on the Modcloth Blog. I love their vintage sexism pieces because they show where we’ve come from as women in terms of societal expectations and we can have a slightly indignant giggle at them without becoming too feminazi about it. Yes, I heart feminism and I also heart that women’s styles are prettier than men’s. Life’s just not fair that way.

In bookland, I just started Fitz’s The Last Tycoon, which he didn’t finish writing before he kicked the bucket. I think we should all start a project to leave unfinished when we die and proclaim it will be our best work yet because then who’s to say it wouldn’t have been? Everyone can fill in the gaps for you with their imagination and project some genius onto it but you’ll get all the credit. That’s a pretty genius plan, if you ask me.
