This weekend was Arthur and Em’s turn to tie the knot in the beautiful Santa Cruz mountains.
I discovered that I really enjoy Jewish weddings. The traditions are just so lively and fun, and full of crowd participation. Watching the couple hoisted up on chairs and danced around is like a sporting event.
The ceremony itself is also full of neat activities: standing under a chuppa held up by family, drinking during the ceremony, and organized destruction of property!
It was a lot of fun to see a bunch of people from high school that I never get to see (Renee, Mike, James), and to cavort with my buddies that I do get to see but not as often as I like.
Kayte, Jim, Erik, and I all went in on a gift together and did a very communal signing of the card, where each of us would write a word and pass it around. I suppose cards are supposed to be personal and private, but this card wants to be shared. The end result ended up something like this.
It was a very special day, for some very special people.
